This scholarship is awarded to full-time, degree seeking applicants who are recent high school graduates and who are the children (natural or adopted) of employees of the Andrew Johnson Bank. Recipients of this scholarship must be enrolled in Walters State Community College’s Nursing Program. First priority preference will be given to any student who has a demonstrated financial need. Dr. Marc E. McClure Memorial Scholarship
First priority preference in selecting recipients for this scholarship will be given to a graduating sophomore who has a 2.5 or higher GPA and intends to seek a four-year degree in History. The recipient should also be actively involved in the community. The recipient must reside within the ten-county service area and attend the Morristown Campus of Walters State Community College.
Selection of recipients for this scholarship shall be made by the college's Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee (or by another appropriate committee selected by the Foundation's Executive Committee) from a list of acceptable candidates provided by faculty of Walters State Behavior and Social Sciences Department. The scholarship stipend may be awarded in full or in partial during any given year depending upon the availability of funds. Faculty Senate Scholarship
Criteria for Faculty Senate Scholarship
Purpose The Faculty Senate Scholarship, as awarded by the representatives of the faculty of Walters State Community College, is intended to reward a committed and high-achieving student at Walters State Community College. The scholarship is to show support for academic achievement and service to the college community. The scholarship will cover tuition and fees not covered by the Pell grant, the HOPE scholarship, Tennessee Promise, or other state assistance funds. Amount and Number of Scholarships To be determined each year at the time of award. Administration A sub-committee of the Faculty Senate for Walters State Community College will be responsible for collecting, evaluations applications, and selecting scholarship recipients. Application Eligibility The Faculty Senate Scholarship is available to eligible students through the website. 1. The applicant must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (as determined by the program or major) at Walters State Community College. 2. The applicant must have a minimum Walters State GPA of 2.75. 3. The applicant must be a returning full-time student during the following academic year (July 1st – June 30th). 4. The applicant must have a demonstrated record of academic achievement and service to the Walters State community (e.g. member of a student affairs club, student government, tutoring, etc). 5. The applicant must have no record of student discipline as documented with the Student Affairs V.P. Office. Application Process 1. Submit application to the Faculty Senate sub-committee no later than March 15th. 2. Submit one (1) copy of your current Walters State transcript the Faculty Senate sub-committee no later than March 15th. 3. Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce Foundation Scholarship for Culinary Arts Students
The scholarship is intended to assist non-traditional culinary arts students with expenses associated with obtaining a degree or technical certificate in culinary arts at Walters State. The scholarship is not intended to assist students with college tuition but is designed to assist with required program-related expenses. First priority preference will be given to students who are 24 years of age or above and enrolled in the Walters State Community College Culinary Arts degree or technical certification program. The recipient(s) also must have a demonstrated financial need for assistance with required program-related items such as equipment, uniforms, books, etc.
Applicants are required to submit a written request of needed items to the Dean of Sevier County Campus and designees of the Culinary Arts program who will then determine the number of scholarships to be awarded per semester and the amount to be awarded to each recipient. This scholarship has been established by the family of Gene and Joyce Jolley in honor of Gene Quarles, retired teacher. Mr. Quarles spent 56 years teaching pre-calculus, advanced placement calculus and physics. This scholarship is designated for a student from Morristown West High School who is planning to teach math or science. Awarded to first-time, full-time degree seeking students from Morristown-Hamblen High School West majoring in math or science.

Preference will be given to applicants who are studying art, photography or a related field on the Humanities Division at Walters State Community College. Preference will be given to nontraditional applicants who are not otherwise receiving financial assistance including a grant or an academic scholarship. The Louis (Doe) Jarvis Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to applicants from Jefferson, Hamblen or Hancock counties who are pursuing a degree or certificate in the Division of Public Safety or in the Division of Technical Education.
Selection of recipients for this scholarship shall be made by the college's Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee (or by another appropriate committee selected by the Foundation's Executive Committee) giving equal emphasis to financial need and academic accomplishment. The scholarship may be awarded in full or in partial during any given year depending upon the availability of funds. Louise S. Tucker Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by her family in honor of her receiving a nursing degree from Walters State at the age of 63. Applicants for the scholarship must have been out of high school or college at least 15 years before entering Walters State’s Nursing program, must be a resident of Walters State’s ten-county service area, and must enroll as a full-time student. Scholarship will be renewable up to three full years of study.

The Lucas Edward Helm Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. Carroll and Edna Helm for the purpose of supporting financially needy students at Walters State Community College who are pursuing a career as a Wildlife Resource Officer.

The Mary E. Milch Memorial Nursing Scholarship was established by her daughter, Maryann Toth, for the purpose of supporting financially needy, non-traditional students at Walters State Community College in Greeneville who are pursuing a degree in nursing. First prioity preference in selecting recipients of this scholarship will be given to full-time, degree seeking non-traditional students who are nursing majors at the Walters State Community College Greeneville Campus. In addition to the first level of priority preference mentioned above, a portion of the Morristown Lions Club Scholarship Fund may be used to assist Morristown Hamblen High School East or Morristown High School West students who are dually enrolled at Walters State Community College. Peggy Lingerfelt Memorial Fund for Music
Peggy Lingerfelt Memorial Fund For Music of the Walters State Community College Foundation has been established by the friends and family of Peggy Lingerfelt. The primary intent is to establish scholarships through this endowment but funds can be used for Music related funding not covered under normal budgetary procedures.
This endowment is established in appreciation for the Music Programs at Walters State Community College. Earnings from this endowment are, thus, intended to further strengthen the college's Music Programs by attracting talented students and assisting them with additional resources. The first priority preference of this endowment is the creation of scholarships to be used in recruiting gifted students who intend to major in music at Walters State or otherwise contribute substantially through their participation in the college's ensembles; however, the endowment may be utilized to supply the Music Programs with additional funds needed for out of the normal budgetary operations from the college. Scholarship recipients shall be full-time students who are residents of East Tennessee. Selection of recipients for this scholarship shall be made by the college's Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee (or by another appropriate committee selected by the Foundation's Executive Committee), with considerable consideration being given to recommendations made by the dean of the college's Humanities Department along with the Music Professors. Selection for continuance of the scholarship for a second year shall be automatic, assuming sufficient funds are available, if the student has continued to make satisfactory progress toward a degree and has continued to meet the criterion of being a Music major or an active participant in performances of the Music Department. The Bob Pratt Memorial Scholarship
The Bob Pratt Memorial Scholarship is a tribute to Bob Pratt, who was affectionately known as “Walters State’s biggest fan.” Scholarship recipients shall be full-time, degree seeking students who are taking at least part of their coursework on the Morristown campus. First priority preference shall be given to a member of one of WSCC’s sports teams, and second priority preference shall be given to a student who is enrolled in WSCC’s nursing program. The Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Jerry Alvis Chapter 59 Endowment
The DAV, Jerry Alvis Chapter 59 Endowment was established for the purpose of supporting honorably discharged disabled veterans from any of the United States military service branches who attend Walters State Community College (WSCC). The DAV, Jerry Alvis Chapter 59 Scholarship is to be awarded annually from the earnings of the endowment of this fund of the Walters State Community College Foundation. The endowment fund and/or the earnings fund will be open to further contributions from anyone who has an interest in supporting students with this profile.
Recipients of this scholarship must be honorably discharged disabled veterans or their dependent (as described below) who will be degree seeking students. The recipients may attend Walters State Community College’s main campus or any WSCC satellite campus. The scholarship funds may be used for academic assistance to pay for tuition, program-related fees, or textbooks. Selection of recipients for this scholarship shall be made by the college's Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee (or by another appropriate committee selected by the Foundation's Executive Committee). The scholarship should be awarded in full (interest earned from previous year and not split between different students) during any given year depending upon the availability of funds. The scholarship may be renewable for those recipients who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher. In the event no qualifying disabled veteran applies for the scholarship, then the children or spouse of a disabled veteran may qualify. If more than one qualified disabled veteran applies to receive these funds, then the veteran having the greatest financial need shall receive first priority. The Dr. Christine “Tina” Wu Memorial Scholarship is to be awarded annually from the earnings of the endowment of this fund of the Walters State Community College Foundation.

The Dustin Lynn Fincher Scholarship Fund was established in his memory by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David and Sherry Fincher. Dustin was a Walters State adjunct faculty member at the Niswonger Campus.
Recipients of this scholarship must be History majors with documented financial need. Special preference will be given to students who attend the Niswonger Campus. Final selection of recipients for this scholarship shall be made by the college's Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee (or by another appropriate committee selected by the Foundation's Executive Committee) with consideration being given to recommendations made by the History faculty. Jessie L. Seal Endowment Fund has been established by Jessie L. This scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional second-year degree seeking student from Sevier County who is majoring in Computer Science or Information Technology. Preference is given to students based on academic accomplishment as demonstrated by having maintained a minimum 2.75 GPA from year one at Walters State. Selection is based on financial need. Recommendations from Dr. Jama Spicer-Sutton and/or other Computer Science faculty members are also preferred.

The Miranda Genese Hill Endowment Fund was established by Mr. Jackie Stewart for the purpose of supporting financially needy students at Walters State Community College. The Tim Brockwell Scholarship
The Tim Brockwell Endowed Scholarship can be used for two purposes: funding scholarships and/or funding instructional equipment or supplies approved by the college’s president. First priority preference shall go to students who have demonstrated financial need yet are not eligible for Pell assistance. This scholarship is intended to benefit students of all ages and is not restricted by geographic location of residence or attendance at a particular Walters State campus and does not require a specific field of study.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3380 & Auxiliary Dandridge Veterans Assistance Endowment was established for the purpose of supporting honorably discharged veterans from any of the United States military service branches who attend Walters State Community College.
Recipients of this scholarship must be honorably discharged veterans who will be full-time, degree seeking students. The recipients may attend Walters State Community College's main campus or any WSCC satellite campus. The scholarship funds may be used for academic assistance to pay for tuition, program-related fees, or textbooks. The scholarship may be awarded in full or in partial during any given year depending upon the availability of funds. The scholarship may be renewable for a total of four semesters of study for those recipients who remain a full-time student and maintain a minimum GPA of2.5 or higher. In the event no qualifying veteran applies for the scholarship, then the full annual interest earnings shall be applied to the corpus fund.
If more than one qualified veteran applies to receive these funds, then the veteran having the greatest financial need shall receive first priority. Donor |

This scholarship is awarded to full-time, degree seeking applicants who are recent high school graduates and who are residents of Sevier County taking at least part of their coursework at the Walters State Sevier County Campus.

William "Ray" and Lena Holdway Scholarship
According to the last will and testament of Mr. William "Ray" Holdway, earnings from the endowment are to be used to fund the educations of those students who have demonstrated financial need and who, without these funds, would be unable to attend college. Recipients of these scholarship funds must be residents of East Tennessee and have a strong desire to receive a college education.
This scholarship is intended to benefit students of all ages and does not require a specific field of study. One or more full or partial scholarships may be awarded during any given year, depending upon the availability of funds. These funds may be applied toward tuition, maintenance fees, and books as well as any necessary program-related fees or materials. The scholarship may be renewable for a second year of study for those recipients who demonstrate satisfactory progress toward a degree during their freshman year. All students receiving scholarships through this program will be encouraged to consider making contributions to the scholarship fund when they have completed their college studies and are financially capable of doing so. Established in honor of the late William D. Eversole, local pharmacist. Scholarship award will be made only to pre-pharmacy majors from Jefferson, Hamblen or Cocke counties.

WSCC Vietnam Veterans of America Scholarship Fund
The first priority for the scholarship recipients is to be a full time student, Veteran of any branch of the United States Armed Forces, having been honorably discharged or is presently serving. In the event that no veteran or service personnel applies for the scholarship, then the scholarship may be awarded to the legal dependent of a Vietnam veteran who has been honorably discharged. If no veteran or legal dependent applies, the money will be placed in the endowment corpus to allow for future growth.
Additional criteria to be used when selecting recipients of this scholarship shall emphasize financial need. This scholarship is intended for veterans who have a strong desire to attend school but have limited financial means. All applicants must provide official documentation of service either by DD214 or other appropriate documentation. The scholarship may be awarded in full or partial during any given year depending on the availability of funds and may be used to assist the recipient with tuition, program-related fees, or books. The recipient must be enrolled as a full time student, remain in good standing while attending Walters State, and maintain a GPA of 2.5. If the student fulfills the previous stipulations, the scholarship can be renewed for a maximum total of four semesters. If, at any time, the student drops out of school or fails to uphold the stipulations, then the student is no longer eligible for this scholarship. Donor |

Established in honor of the late Xan Leedy, Grainger County civic and agricultural leader. Scholarship award will be made to full-time, degree seeking agriculture or agribusiness students from Grainger County who are recent high school graduates.

Yoakum Family Scholarship
The Yoakum Family Scholarship Fund was established by Mrs. Eleanor E. Yoakum and her son, Robert G. Barger, for the purpose of supporting Claiborne County students. Recipients for this scholarship shall be residents of Claiborne County who are attending the Claiborne County Campus of Walters State Community College. The Yoakum Family Scholarship is intended to benefit students of all ages and is not restricted to a specific field of study.
