	Dr. and Mrs. Truett H. Pierce Truett H. Pierce graduated from the University of Tennessee , Memphis, College of Medicine in 1953 and completed his residency training at Knoxville General Hospital. Dr. Pierce then established a medical practice in Sneedville, TN. Dr. Truett H. Pierce and his late wife Wanda Pierce are longtime friends of the college. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Pierce has served as a trustee for the Walters State Foundation for many years. When this scholarship fund was established in 1988, it was Dr. and Mrs. Pierce's wish for all recipients of this scholarship to remain free to pursue their chosen career without restraint or obligation, and they ask only that the recipients make a conscious effort to contribute to society.
