Kirk and Lynn Tucker
This scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Louise S. Tucker by her son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Lynn Tucker, and is intended to to extend support to older students who are returning to college or entering college for the first time in order to prepare themselves for a career in nursing.
By establishing this memorial scholarship, the initial donors wish to honor the courage, dedication, perseverance, and loving spirit of Louise S. Tucker who returned to college and pursued her nursing degree while meeting the adult responsibilities inherent with being a wife and mother. In doing so, she inspired her daughter, Sarai, to pursue a career in nursing and became an inspiration to her fellow nursing students. Louise received special recognition from her nursing class at graduation as well as a letter from President Ronald Reagan acknowledging her accomplishments. It is, thus, the intention of this scholarship to encourage and assist future generations of nursing students who may be facing similar challenges and who may be expected ultimately to serve their community with similar empathy, mature judgement, and nursing expertise.
