Mrs. Virginia A. Sheahan, niece of Miss Audrey Aileen Roddy and additional members of Miss Roddy's family
This scholarship was establised by Mrs. Virginia A. Sheahan, the neice of Miss Roddy and additional members of Miss Roddy's family. Miss Aileen Roddy spent a lifetime of service in Morristown where she taught 5th grade in the same classroom at Roberts School for 47 years. Miss Roddy was a graduate of Carson-Newman College and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Women's Sorority for Women Educators. She also served for ten years in the Hamblen County Chapter of the American Red Cross where she contributed 1700 hours as a volunteer library aide following her retirement. Miss Roddy is fondly remembered with gratitude by many for her interest in promoting a good basic education for everyone, a goal to which she devoted her life and energies.
