Donald and Phyllis Finchum, parents of Lynn Finchum
Mr. and Mrs. Finchum established this scholarship in memory of their son Lynn. Lynn was a sophomore at Walters State Community College majoring in agriculture at the time of his death in an automobile accident. Lynn attended Jefferson County High School where he was a member of the wrestling team and served as the vice-president of the school's Future Farmers of America chapter and served as the district FFA vice-president. He received the school's Star Greenhand Award and Agri-Business Award.
Lynn was also very active in 4-H activities. He was 1980 Champion Livestock Exhibitor and 1981 Exposition Champion at the Jefferson County Livestock Exposition. Lynn was a district winner for sheep showmanship and placed third in showmanship in the state.
Lynn was named Jefferson County's Outstanding Young Livestock Producer for 1980-1981.
At the time of his death, Lynn was an active member of Strawberry Plains Presbyterian Church.
