Greene County Sheriff's Department and friends and family of Sgt. Rick Coyle
The employees of the Greene County Sheriff's Department along with friends and family of the late Sgt. Rick Coyle established the Deputy Sheriff Rick Colye Memorial Scholarship Fund as a way to honor Coyle's memory. Coyle died September 25, 1995, in the line of duty. Coyle engaged in a gun-battle with a fugitive felon from Alabama whom Coyle suspected in a hit-and-run incident. The convicted arsonist also died in the gun battle.
