Mrs. Carolyn Thompson Bugg, daughter of R.C. and Ruth Thompson
This scholarship was established in memory of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Thompson of White Pine, Tennessee. The purpose of this scholarship is to help a student in the field of agriculture to obtain a degree and do the work, which will make the land prosperous and beneficial to all. The two people whom this scholarship is in memory of worked on their family farms and then when they were married, they workedon their farm side-by-side and raised a family. It was considered a pleasure by both of them to be able to work the land, provide for their family, as well as to help those around them when they could.
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson both grew up in Morristown and worked unitl 1969 on their farm located where Walters State now stands. These two people were the type who touched lives and never asked for anything in return. They would give to people that they knew they would probably never see again. It is the hope that whoever receives this scholarship will take the interest of agriculture to heart and follow the path of hard work and honesty in some way that their life and hard work would honor the two people that this endowment is in memory of.
