Friends of Selina Gill
This scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Selina Gill. Mrs. Gill was a longtime author of "Passing By," a column in the Citizens Tribune. At the time of her death in 1977, she was Tennessee's oldest working journalist at age 85. Selina was orphaned at an early age and was brought up by a variety of relatives. Her personal experience gave her a natural sympathy for orphans, and Kingswood School was a cause especially dear to her. Selina was known for her strong desire to help anyone in need. This scholarship was established so that deserving people of all races and faiths could attend Walters State to pursue their interest in writing.
