Friends and family of Mr. Paul Bruce
Mr. Paul Bruce was a native of Hamblen County and received his bachelor of science degree from Carson Newman College in 1959 following a four-year term in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Bruce was known as a public servant and not a politician though he served as Hamblen County Executive from 1978, when it was a part-time position, until his death in 1995. He also served on the Hamblen County Planning Commission, the United Way Budget Committee, the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and the Executive Committee of the Industrial Board. In addition, Mr. Bruce's civic activities incuded being a member-at-large of the Lions Club of Morristown where he served as secretary/treasurer. Mr. Bruce was also instrumental in creating the Hamblen/Morristown Solid Waste Disposal Board and helped implement countywide garbage pick up and recycling.
Mr. Bruce and his wife Gayle are the parents of Mrs. Paula Bruce Combs, Mr. John Richard "Ricky" Bruce, and Mr. Ronald Powell Bruce.
