Mrs. Wilma Geane "Kitty" Pope
Mrs. Wilma "Kitty" Pope spent more than 30 years as a nurse in Easr Tennessee, with her last 20 years spent at Morristown Hamblen Health Systen in Morristown. Mrs. Pope finished high school ar Kingswood School and had to struggle financially to become a nurse, which inspired her to help others in that situation. "Kitty" was given her nickname by her classmates at Kingswood school because of her love for cats. In fact, most of her co-workers never knew her first name was Wilma. In addition to being a caring, compassionate nurse, Kitty was a very talented quilter whose quilts won many awards. Kitty used her talent to make quilts for newborns among her family and friends and kept a scrapbook with photos and thank you notes from the recipients of those quilts.
